CHAMELEON DESIGNS - KITCHEN

The brief from the client was to replace what was small, cramped and dark kitchen and separate dining room, which was also dark and somewhat cold into one room ideal of cooking and entertaining. The client, a serious cook, wanted hard wearing and hard working appliances, good preparation space, good storage facilities, lighting and to incorporate the existing  8 place setting dining table. The heating system was also to be revamped as insufficient for the flat. Removing the partition stud wall and opening up the space reconfigured the room, relatively long and narrow. The boiler was replaced and housed in a cupboard out of view, and inward opening French doors replaced the sash windows at the back of the property to allow more light and ventilation into the room. Storage was provided by a large larder unit and island unit incorporating a wine rack, which also provided considerable food preparation facilities and also could act as a serving point for the table beyond. New lighting, operating on different dimmers to adjust the mood, and a feature light over the dining table were added. New appliances, a range cooker, stainless steel side-by-side fridge/freezer, dishwasher and combined washer/dryer  and granite work surfaces were incorporated into the design.
