The rooms in this Georgian townhouse were large, bright and airy. The previous owner had updated the rest of the property, when my clients moved in. However the two reception rooms and hallways were tired and dated and didn’t fit in with the rest of the house. With two young children, any designs had not only to be visually attractive but also to stand the test of time. Working with the clients existing furniture where possible, using some new pieces, the brief was to harmonise the space on this floor whilst, giving character and identity to the three rooms. In the main reception room an oak strip floor was in place, this was refinished, and replicated in the 2nd reception room. The hallway, as the only entrance into the property needed a hardwearing floor finish, and slate was used, not only as it could stand the heavy traffic but because of its impact! A feature wallpaper and mirror, new radiator completed the feel.The two reception rooms have a very different feel, one incorporating a new built in gas fire and feature radiators, neutral tones with a metallic wallpaper highlighting the chimneybreasts, custom built in storage, feature lights, rugs and accessories has a softer feel, and is where the family come to read, relax and use the new AV system.The second reception room is more vibrant with access out onto the garden.
