The clients felt this room was cold and dark and lacked a personality. It was where they got together to sit, relax, watch TV and spend time as a family unit. It was also the children’s space for their activities. Being a modern house there was no chimneybreast wall, so one was created as a focal point to the room. An installation of an electric fire to add additional warmth, a TV and surround system was incorporated, the furniture was recovered, warm colours were used and the space was reconfigured to make it more open to conversation.
